Acknowledge- your emotions and your depression Let us talk about the first A ,out of 7 As process of coping with major or clinical depression. By Acknowledge, what we mean is to understand, that something is wrong with our emotional health. As a thumb rule when there is no physical ailments ,as per your family doctor and still you feel emotionally upset, sad , in a negative thought pattern , loss of concentration, loss of sleep ( or excessive sleep) ,crying bouts , not finding joy in anything around , keeping aloof ,always tired , as if some negative thought pattern keeps coming in loop , loss of hope , these could be symptoms you should ask your family doctor and see a Psychiatrist if required. Remember there is a red flag ,if you are thinking of ending all these once and for all or even slightest hint of self harm Take it easy. This is a chemical imbalance in your brain ( as - chemical lochha- as Munna bhai says in his movie). If you have a fracture in your leg ,you need to rest and that you can not run.You may have to take medicine also. So ,put first thing first.... If you have few symptoms, contact a Psychiatrist and take prescribed medications. Now a days ,even schools take help of mental health professionals. Family members should also look for such symptoms and acknowledge those symptoms. Remember, no techniques can help if you have severe symptoms, and you do not acknowledge and take medication Nothing useful can be done ,if you are under denial mode. So,Acknowledge and radical acceptance is the first step in your coming back with flying colors. I remember, my personal encounter with this Gift ,way back in 1995.
